Praying Our History
Robert Jarvik, inventor of the artificial heart, was born on this day in 1946. The first recipient of the Jarvik 7, Barney Clark, lived 112 days. The Jarvk model left the patient with limited mobility, and often caused blood clots to form.
On May 11, 1997, IBM's supercomputer Deep Blue, made chess history by defeating Gary Kasparov, regarded as the greatest chess player who ever lived. It was the first defeat of a reigning world champion by a machine in tournament play.
A Word from Scripture
Don't put your life in the hands of experts
who know nothing of life, of salvation life.
Mere humans don't have what it takes;
when they die, their projects die with them.
Instead, get help from the God of Jacob,
put your hope in God and know real blessing!
Psalm 146:3-5
Reflection Question
Where do I place my ultimate trust or seek my greatest security?
Blessing
May you have a mind that loves frontiers
So that you can evoke the bright fields
That lie beyond the view of the regular eye.
